Our School - School Services

The Greenwich Public School P&C supports a number of School Services that enhance the day to day running of the school.  Our sub-committees are always looking for enthusiastic parents who would like to donate their time.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact us or chat to one of our GPS P&C Members.

Banking

SCHOOL Banking

We offer children the opportunity to bank with the Commonwealth Bank on a weekly basis which provides a fun and engaging way for them to learn about money and develop good savings habits.

Children who deposit money into their Youthsaver account earn Dollarmites tokens which they can redeem for exciting rewards (once they’ve collected 10 tokens).

Children who join will receive a Dollarmites deposit wallet, a Platybank money box and a range of fun, engaging materials to help them learn and encourage them to save.

We have a team of seven volunteers who kindly help out each Thursday before school.  GPS is lucky enough to receive fundraising support from this program while the children gain benefit from learning to save each week.

For more information visit the Commonwealth Bank Website or ask for an information pack from either of the school offices.

Students are provided the opportunity to participate in the Training and Performing Bands.  Each year we offer an annual Band Intensive Workshop in May. This intensive is a very important event in the band calendar, as it provides a fun occasion for the bands to work hard for a concentrated period of time, both in sectional sessions and in full rehearsals.

They are also offered an excursion to see the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as part of the SSO Schools Concert program and play at the Performing Arts concert on 27 June.

The fee contributions of $250 per semester (two terms) include all band music and books, rehearsal and performance costs, a weekend Intensive workshop, the cost of entering the NSW Band Festival our successful excursion

If you would like to find out more information regarding your child’s participation in the Band Program please contact the Band Committee.

Grounds

GROUNDS

GPS is fortunate to have a large green space as a prominent feature at the Kingslangley Rd site as well as an abundance of greenery at the Greenwich Rd site.

In 2011, due to declining attendance rates at the working bees, the P&C also introduced a Gardening levy as an option for parents to make a contribution towards ground maintenance.

The P&C intended for the levy to be paid instead of, or in addition to, participation at working bees. It further intended to use any funds collected via this “gardening levy” for multiple small projects per year that would typically have otherwise been performed at working bees.
