The GPS P&C follows a strict policy of seeking parent/guardian permission before using images which show children on the GPS P&C website.
No other private information about children is ever published on the website such as surnames or contact details.
Where permission is granted by parents/guardians, the GPS P&C operates the following policy on its website regarding the use of photographs, to ensure the privacy and safety of children attending Greenwich Public School:
-
Where children are named, only their first names are given;
-
Where a child is named, no photograph of that child is displayed;
-
Where a photograph is used which shows a child, no name is displayed.
By observing these points, the GPS P&C ensures that visitors to the website cannot link images of children to names of children.
When choosing photographs for the website, the GPS P&C is mindful of the way children may appear in them, and will not include images which are in any way inappropriate, such as close-up portrait shots of individual children.

In addition to the Social Media Policy, adopted in May 2017, this Facebook policy is aimed at providing a set of rules and guidelines that will help implement and maintain an official Greenwich Public School Parents & Citizens Association (GPS P&C) Facebook group, allowing for effective and positive two-way communication between the committee and parents.
GPS P&C Facebook Group
Aim
-
To provide a method of informing the school community about matters relating to the GPS P&C and the sub committees including but not limited to fundraising, events, reminders, uniform and canteen updates, banking, gardening bees and volunteers as well as school and community updates.
Implementation
-
The GPS P&C Facebook group (hereafter referred to as the “Group”) will be run and administered by a member (or members) of the committee. Administrators will be set up to post and act on behalf of the committee.
-
It will be made available to current parents and school community members pending a request to join. It will be a private group.
-
A yearly audit will be done to review parents and community members to make sure they are still involved with the school.
-
Parents are able to leave the group at any time and are encouraged to do so once their child(ren) are no longer students.
-
All users (following or commenting) interacting with the Group, must do so using an identifiable Facebook account.
-
The Group is to be used for positive purposes only.
-
It will be non-commercial unless school / committee related or approved.
-
Offensive language and negativity will not be tolerated, parents are to follow the appropriate channels to resolve any grievances.
-
No references to GPS staff are to be made without permission.
-
Breach of any of these protocols may incur a warning, removal of comments and/or being blocked at the discretion of the Group administrators and the executive committee. Any warnings/consequences will be communicated by the group administrators on behalf of the committee (as GPS P&C, not as an individual).
-
Access to the group is a privilege not a right. GPS P&C reserves the right to restrict access and manage the page as deemed appropriate by the committee. GPS P&C reserves the right to delete the group should it see the need.
-
The Administrators are responsible for posting “status updates”. Staff, Committee or School Council representatives wishing to add information or other items (eg photos, videos or links) to the Group must forward such information to the Administrator with a request.
-
Content must be accurate and appropriate including photos or videos with no surnames and must have the necessary associated permissions, remembering that specific permission for allowing staff/student photos on Facebook must be obtained. This is the responsibility of the individual requesting the item to be added, not the Administrator of the group.
-
Users will not be able to author a posting of their own or load media such as videos or photos.
-
The non-negotiable rules will be included as part of the group page so parents are aware of their behavioural obligations.
GPS P&C Facebook Page
-
The current GPS P&C Facebook page, established in 2011 will remain active to allow for people to post publically, however it will not be updated with content.
-
It will be administered and monitored by a member (or members) of the committee. Administrators will be set up to post and act on behalf of the committee.
-
Users will be directed to join the Group to receive up to date information about the school community.
-
Contact details will be current and it will be monitored for any inappropriate content.
